Personnel: Paweł Grzęda - violin Total time: 66:09 min.
Regardless
its title, the album does not contain old material of Warszawska Jesionka,
but rather constitutes the
clearest reference ever in the history of the group, to the origins of its
name: the festival Warszawska Jesien (Warsaw Autumn. The name of the group
means light overcoat of Warsaw-provenance to be worn during autumn). The
album contains just one track, not distinguished by a given title:
simultaneous concert by 17 (arbitrarily) chosen
composers of avantgarde music from the 20th century
containing full-length compositions, unaltered when it comes to structure
and sound. All the concerts are of approximately the same duration, each one
of them containing pieces by one composer. The result brings on a feeling of
total de-composition or rather of a new and independent composition with its
own qualities. Opposite this accumulation of musical material, stands the
free improvisation of the musicians forming the quartet Warszawska Jesionka,
who without hearing one another during the recording session made their
individual contributions to the whole piece, becoming thereby an integral
and undistinguishable element of it. |
